Looking at VirtualBox.exe in Process Explorer, I see one thread using all the CPU. Added 4Mb Ubuntu server and jacked with it just enough to get it to fail when starting. Normally, when you mess-up with this kind of things (or switch motherboard eg), you have to re-install the HAL (did that many times) so you can just bootup your Windows CD Normally you would also have two profiles one for each to enable / disable the appropriate device drivers to match the VM and bare H/W configs. check over here

And if none of the above did work, you have to submit a bugreport. If you are running virtual box from a GNU/Linux host, you can use taskset to set the CPU affinity. Now if we can get the Oracle people to work on the issue as this is very annoying.
What I noticed was that my CPU usage went through the roof (constantly at 100%) even if the guest was completely idle. After adding a dummy VM, my VB idle is 8-9%. SLES 11 64-bit host / Windows 7 64-bit guest VBox.4.log (72.4 KB) - added by Emerson Prado 4 years ago. The guest OS is responsive, and Task Manager in the guest indicates 0% CPU usage.
