The thing is that this allocation thing takes up roughly 10 seconds before the booting process can continue. Ask questions about Fedora that do not belong in any other forum. I'm running the latest kernel (2.6.20-12-generic) and can't see any difference - has this fix been put into the Ubuntu packaged kernel? They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.
