But all that said, I do appreciate the effort that was put into fixing this very agravating problem - perhaps people who buy AAO's second hand will get the most benefit have a peek here I don't know what else can I attach besides dmesg, that follows.
I ran the commands: sudo /etc/init.d/hal stop sudo hald --verbose=yes --daemon=no 2>&1 | tee /tmp/hal.log But the logging stopped almost immediately - see attached output. I wonder what the proper fix is? I regain HAL when I booted up with my Gutsy Kernel 188.8.131.52.

Only "sudo /etc/init.d/dbus restart" works for me. tried blacklisting anyway, as proposed in bug report 212271. I was able to install using the alternate text based CD, but this error looks identical to the one I got in the Live boot.
