Realistically, it's far better to use that location anyway as installers auto-detect it.
I can see it now: [App name] cannot be run from this shortcut. Anyone should have right to "install" portable programs wherever they want. It maybe the file is missing or the file is now located in a different place to the place pointed to by the install script.
