At college i am currently on an unsecured network as well. Signal is excellent, another laptop at home works fine. is this a known problem on the cfw? Do you have a router? At college i am currently on an unsecured network as well. Second thing you can do is reset your router. But I have also been able to connect from far away, via my own wirless router, and even straight through the PS3's wireless connection it provides.

To register (pair) the device, select (Settings) > (Remote Play Settings) > [Register Device]. also, when I test my connection against the ps3 it says taht it can't find it. i know how to work my router.
