Now, I can select Safe Mode, but it starts loading, then prompts with a "Hit Enter to continue loading sptd.sys". The latest versions don't have these problems but one of the first cases I saw had symptoms similar to what you're experiencing. However, from the safe mode I cannot run update. I copied them to the Desktop, and rebooted to copy them to a thumb drive. However, it is still booting with the NT style loggin prompt and once in, The task bar loads, but it is blank, i.e. i'm trying to fix my mother in-law's computer via long distance.

Then I moved the live DVD to the ailing comp and backed up the explorer.exe that was on there to the USB stick--just in case I need it again--and copied my I've tried running in safe mode and I get pretty much the same thing. As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged Press enter to select an item to change.Navigate to the tab, where you can set the boot order. Looking at running processes is the only thing I can do on there, and that only through Task Manager because Ctrl+Alt+Del does bring it up.
