Do I need to change to the C directory or is it OK at C:\WINDOWS>? Doesn't matter what media I use. This made me realise that XP installation checks for the system's hardware right during the installation and if it finds any hint of a faulty h/w it gets stalled. But I did check the mails pouring into my inbox on this installation issue via the comments you all have put in. Erk. :? Ubuntu is nice and all but I dont see anything that would make me prefer it over windows.The only thing i have been using ubuntu for is web browsing playing music/movies Once I plug the keyboard or mouse in (have both in usb and [old school interface] varieties) install hangs.
The issue is with machine.inf… I am hesitant to delete machine.inf, is it ok to do or will it do something very bad to my computer. This is nice because with that I can browse the d drive and try to launch files. It also reported stats on disk space and allocation units on disk and available. I had been working on a pc, hoping not to format, for 5 hours when i finally came across this solution. There was a 'browse to' box open so I was able to locate iaStore.sys on the 'C' drive and selected it. have a peek here Its as simple as deleting a simple file which caused the installation to freeze.
The F8-debugging works for me. Can't install the old version of Acrobat because it fails due to newer version already installed. The log file should include the hardware that Setup will skip on the next restart.You can also review the Setupapi.log file, the Setupact.log file, and the Setuperr.log file (in the %windir% Now the installation goes as far as 18 mins left but freezes on "registering components" part.

Many people love it and do not want to change to a newer version, especially on old hardware. As a guest, you can browse and view the various discussions in the forums, but can not create a new topic or reply to an existing one unless you are logged So beware that the cheaper bigger drive (including Seagate made by the same company) may cost you much more in the end. Whip out 1 stick & try again.
